Work Location: Hybrid (flexible for in-office, remote, and on-the-road), residing within NWKEICI service area. (Cheyenne, Rawlins, Decatur, Phillips, Smith, Jewell, Republic, Sherman, Thomas, Sheridan, Graham, Rooks, Osborne, Mitchell, Norton, Cloud, Wallace, Logan, Gove, Trego, Ellis, Russell, Lincoln, Ottawa, Ellsworth, Saline.)
Summary/Objective:
The Accountant will maintain accounting records and prepare financial reports for use by organization management. This position will also plan and direct all accounting operations of the organization.
This position is a full-time, 12-month position; can be remote or work from the Innovation Center office in Norton. This position must reside in the 26-county region listed above. This position also provides a benefit package. This position is not a state for federal position.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The Accountant will be responsible for all internal accounting duties of the NWKEICI. These duties include, but are not limited to:
Maintaining all necessary accounting records utilizing accounting software (currently using QuickBooks, Desktop version)
Maintaining accounting software and recommending updates and enhancements as needed
Maintaining the accounting general ledger
Receiving, entering, coding, and paying all invoices, and setting up new accounts as needed
Reconciling all bank accounts, verifying deposits including all postings necessary to properly record loan payments from loan customers, and addressing all bank inquiries
Provide accounting information as needed to external accountants regarding tax preparation and external audits
Work with NWKEICI Program Specialist to produce an annual budget and forecasts; report significant budget differences to program specialist(s) and/or Board of Directors
Prepare timely, monthly balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and statements of cash flow, including reports comparing actual vs. budgeted profit and loss statements
Work with the NWKEICI Board of Directors to establish and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and to implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
Overseeing the payroll process, including posting of necessary payroll entries, making all payroll tax deposits timely, and preparing and filing all necessary payroll returns
Develop and maintain specialized databases and systems for recording and tracking grant proposals, awards, and related statistical information; create and distribute standard and special reports, studies, summaries, and analyses, as required
Monitors and coordinates the administration of post-award grants to ensure that budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, and agency requirements are being followed; manages administrative problems and/or budget changes occurring during the awarded granting period
Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge / Skills / Attributes:
Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting.
Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Highly proficient with accounting software.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Ability to travel and attend off-premises meetings and events, which may occasionally include overnight stays.
