Fort Hays State University is hosting an open house on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. We invite you to walk around our campus and visit our buildings. As part of the Open House, you can also witness the annual John Hienrichs Scholarly and Creative Activity Days (SACAD). This event started in 2005 and is held every year to celebrate the scholarly and creative activities of students, faculty, and staff. The University is happy to invite community members to campus to view the various projects completed by our students, staff, and faculty. This event showcases the following activities:

  • Academic posters, Memorial Union Ballroom and Black and Gold Room (8:00-3:30 p.m. with presenters available from 1:00-3:00 p.m.)
  • Art and creative works, Schmidt Foundation Center for Art and Design (10:00-3:00 p.m., with artists available from 1:00-3:00 p.m.)
  • Meet the authors, Memorial Union, Stouffer Lounge (2:00-3:00 p.m.)
  • Musical performances, Memorial Union, Sunset Atrium (8:00-12:00 p.m.) and the Schmidt Foundation Center for Art and Design (1:00-3:00 p.m.)

This open house promises to be an enjoyable and interesting experience for everyone, while allowing students, faculty, and staff to showcase their unique work. We invite everyone to walk through our beautiful campus buildings with FHSU students, faculty, and staff there to point you in the right direction. The Fort Hays State University Foundation and Alumni Office will provide transportation across campus and parking is open and FREE. In addition to our open house on May 1st, all academic posters can be viewed from April 29, 2024 through May 3, 2024, through the FHSU Scholar’s Repository (https://scholars.fhsu.edu/sacad/).

Light refreshments will be available at each building listed above, with additional food and drink options available for purchase from the Union Catering Company within the Memorial Union. Additionally, sno-cones, cotton candy, and popcorn will be served in the quad (limited to the first 200 attendees).
